SAGAING, Myanmar - According to a source close to the victim's family, regime forces shot and killed a third-year medical student in Sagaing Region's Myinmu Township last Friday.

Kyaw Nyi Zin, 21, was killed when junta troops opened fire on the vehicle he was traveling with his family from Mandalay to Monywa.

Kyaw Nyi Zin was a third-year student at the University of Medicine, Mandalay, one of five medical universities in Myanmar.

However, he stopped attending classes at the state-run university last year to participate in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) against military rule.
