LGU-Maasin City receives 'Project GABAY' from USAID

MAASIN CITY, Dec. 2 (PIA) -- The Local Government Unit of Maasin City received a diagnostic hearing evaluation equipment through the Resources for the Blind Inc. (RBI) under the "Project GABAY" of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

In a statement released by Maasin City Mayor Nacional V. Mercado, he said that the equipment recently received include one (1) Computer Desktop with Microsoft Home Office and Business 2019 ENG PAC EM MediaLess and four (4) units Hearing Aid (moderate to severe category) with two (2) packs of batteries (Hearing Aid Dehumidifier and Manual).

In addition, Mayor Mercado said, the city government also received four (4) units of Hearing Aid for Profound with two (2) packs of batteries; three (3) units Pediatric Hearing Aid Tool Kits; one (1) set PC based Diagnostic Audiometer with one (1) unit Speaker; one (1) set Video Otoscope with Sentech CAM USB Based and a set of Tympanometer Machine.

Mercado, in his message during the virtual turnover ceremony, extended his sincere gratitude and appreciation to USAID through Dr. Thomas LeBlanc and Chairman of the Board Mrs. Goodwill Lansang for making Maasin City as its project recipient.

USAID's Gabay aims to strengthen Inclusive Education for Blind/Deaf Children project implemented in partnership with the Department of Education and Resources for Blind Inc., with the local governments in the provinces including Batangas, Sorsogon, and Southern Leyte.

These LGUs identified children from kindergarten to grade three with vision and hearing impairments so that they can receive literacy support early on.

Mercado, during the said virtual turnover ceremony at his office, was with Dr. Francislisa I. Tan, City Health Officer II; Dr. April Gervie Macabuhay, Medical Officer III; Raul A. Inocando, Senior Fire Officer I; and Jhade Maturan-Bestudio, City Social Welfare Officer. (ldl/rgcPIA8 Southern Leyte)
