Another Afghan attack kills policemen
Asia Pacific News.Net Sunday 22nd November, 2009
Five Afghan border policemen have been killed in a roadside bomb blast in southern Afghanistan.
The explosion happened in Spin Boldak, which is a district of Kandahar which borders Pakistan and is known to be the base of many Taliban members.
Taliban militants are still active in southern and eastern regions, along the border with Pakistan, where the militants are believed to have safe havens.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the Sunday attack on police, which occurred near the district’s main market.
A Taliban spokesman has made contact with the press to say a police commander was also killed in the pre-dawn attack. Email this story to a friend
