Catholic Church threatens legal action against Brazil rape victim

Asia Pacific News.Net
Thursday 5th March, 2009

In Brazil, a nine-year-old girl has been allowed an abotion after being raped.

The girl was expecting twins after being raped by her stepfather, who had been abusing her since she was six.

In Brazil, abortion is only permitted in cases of rape or when pregnancy threatens the life of the mother.

Despite this, the Roman Catholic church has threatened to charge the mother of the girl with murder for agreeing to the medical procedure.

A lawyer for the archdiocese of Olinda and Recife, which lies in the northeast of the country, has said the girl should have brought the twins into the world.

Catholic Church threatens legal action against Brazil rape victim

A bit of argument;

Let’s just say the 'church' has an argument here, then it is also true, all the leaders of the 'pastors' that have abused their flock members(sexually), are to be also Jailed! No exceptions!

About the 'Process' of the church interferring with the laws of the Peoples!, the church has never really left the dark ages! It still is continuing the long traditions of lying, murdering, incestry, drunkeness, slaveries, and the hoarding of wealth over the Peoples!

but just keep singing the how great thou art!

Church should be focusing on other things

and stay out of this. Why are they allowing a man to be a bishop when he does not believe in the Holocaust. God only knows what other kinds of beliefs he has.
A nine year old girl has gone through hell with years of abuse by her step-father. The least of her worries is this abortion. This child is damaged for the rest of her life. Where the hell was the mother all this time? There is no way this could go on for that long and her not know. Hang her out with the sicko she married.

The church needs to mind their own business.

I just don't know what to think.

I agree with the person who said “that’s why I’m not Catholic” I was raised a guilt ridden catholic. Through so much life experiences, I truly, have found my own way. I just try to live my life knowing what is Right and Wrong and to respect people
regardless of whatever. It does sound simple-minded, but there is not any religion involved!!!..Maybe, think about it. You can always draw your own conclusions when you live like that. It’s simple but really not so easy. NO! religion involved. “Hello”!! kathy rey

What does the church do about the rapist????

Maybe the Church should concentrate on legal action and excomunication of the rapist, the girls stepfather, rather than this poor girl. I belive he has also been rapinig the girls 14 year old disbled sister.
But as usual the Church has its priority on punishing the victim not the purpotrator.

IT IS STATE SUBJECT

It is a tragedy which should make all of us hang our head in shame. Least we can do is to allow law to take its course. And I am sure there would be organisations and persons who can come forward and volunteer to look after the innocent girl by helping her to get back on track. She has to be removed from the environment where she is now. Abortion was carried out on account of health ( mental as well as physical) which is SUBJECT AND RESPONSIBILITY of state and not of church.

What about the stepfather?

The archbishop refers to God’s Law. Yet abortion is nowhere forbidden in the Bible; indeed, it isn’t even mentioned. So the Church applies the fifth commandment: Thou shalt not kill. Well, look who’s talking — the Catholic Church ranks right behind folks like Nero, Caligula, Hitler, and Stalin when it comes to killing those who have disagreed with it over the centuries. If the Church had had its way, the girl would have died a slow and painful death, with her twins, when they would have grown too big for her little body. Killed by the Church, all three of them. Thou shalt not kill, indeed.

The mother and the doctors have been excommunicated. But not the stepfather, he who broke an actual command in God’s Law: Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter (Lev. 18:17). The punishment to be administered is spelled out in clear: Everyone who does any of these detestable things—such persons must be cut off from their people (Lev. 18:29). Excommunicated, that is. Mandated in God’s Law, but not carried out by the Church, because the poor sinner is a man. In the eyes of the Church, he’s still a Catholic in good standing.

The misogynism of conservative so-called Christians comes from the same Middle Eastern tradition as that of conservative Muslims like the Taleban: Woman, even at nine years old, is but a vessel meant to bear sons for a man. She has no rights, particularly not over her own body. If there are complications with a pregnancy and a choice has to be made, always let the woman die: she has no value, and the baby might be a son.

Liberal Pro-Abortion Media at it again

What a misleading headline! How about:

Catholic Church threatens legal action against Murderer of Twins

That would be far more accurate.

Yes, tragically the young girl was a rape victim and we all wished it never would have happened.

However, the twins are innocent of that crime!

Two criminal wrongs do not make a right!

Nobody mourns for the murdered twins?

Only the fanatic anticatholic bigots appear to make the usual sneering nasty comments expected from leftists with no hearts?

Nine years old and expected to give birth?

Jesus my heart hurt for this child!
Raped by the stepfather at nine!
Pregnant has an abortion and then threatened with legal action?
Nevermind the damage done by the Abortion to her little young body!
Nevermind the mental anguish of being raped over and over by her hopefully soon to be executed step father what about the trauma of giving birth to one so young!
There is no right decision!

Super angry...

This is why I could NEVER EVER be catholic. They honestly care more about the fetuses than life of the girl who had no choice in being impregnated. I guess this is what happens when an organization is run by all men. OMG!! This is shocking. They would see it as more moral to just let the poor girl die along with the twins than have an abortion. The twins were forced into her without her permission and do not have some unconditional divine right to be there. This religion is truely a nightmare. The Church seems more angry at the girl’s mother than at the stepfather who raped her.

Idiot

Ya gotta love this line, “The twins were forced into her without her permission and do not have some unconditional divine right to be there."

First off, it takes a sperm and an egg to make a baby, so the twins didn’t just go climbing in there.

Second, yes they did have every single right to be there, since they were an egg in there to begin with!

...
03-05-09, 05:09 PM

Just because there was an egg in there doesn’t mean it’s ok. Do you believe this 9 year old should have been forced to carry her rapists child?

...
03-05-09, 05:11 PM

Nevermind I see a lot of you honestly would rather see her die along with the twins she had no choice in concieving. Good for you.

9 year old Mother and rape victim.

Yeah, the catholic church really cares about these two twins life.(“Our Dad' is doing life in jail for raping our Mother and getting her pregnant when she was 9 years old”.) What a wonderful life these twins will have. The church blames the mother of the 9 year old rape victim,(But,it seems the stepfather rapist has done nothing wrong as far as the church is concerned) Maybe the Mother just didn’t want to see her 9 year old daughter going though the pain, shame, and mental HELL of giving berth to twins conceived out of rape. What Mother in her right mind would want to put her daughter through that, and what kind of humanity would call for the Mother of the rape victim to be charged with murder for letting the abortion go ahead. Also.I don’t see the church offering to pay for the twins, school, health, and up-bringing for the next 18 years. All I can say for the 9 year old,is,never be alone with a catholic priest. Better still, have nothing to do with the catholic church what so ever.(I wonder if the stepfather was catholic ? that would exsplane a lot.) Confess on Sunday and then go home and rape the child on Monday. When I hear of catholics talking like this,I start thinking about “Lions”,and how I can get my hands on a whole lot in one enclosed place.

Honestly does anyone actually read the story?
The victims of this crime are the unborn murdered babies and the nine year old child!
The crime is that this child was forced to choose disfigurement by giving birth and allowing life for her babies or disfigurement from the abortinist shoving a hose up her privates to suck the children out!
There is no winning decision only pain.
I would like to string the step father up by his nuts!
The church has no business commenting on this issue instead they should help this poor child deal with the pain and emotional scars from the ordeal not make brand new ones.
Shame on the Church, shame on the step father and most of all shame on the mother of this child for being blind to the harm her derilict dirtbag husband did to this child.
Where was she while he raped her over and over?
God help this man if he had done this to my child or any child I knew!!!

The Church & the damn rapist should be lynched.!

Action against the young girl’s mother is total crap, the bloody church is in favour of the arsehole RAPIST! Had the church mention any concern for the little girl herself; at all? not one iota? In that case they must have shit for brains!!
Catholics have bloody short memories - many of their priests worldwide in the past brought shame and disgust to their church up until recently, for raping 'little' boys in their care.
There is such a case being heard at the High Court in New Zealand.
The 'Big boys’in prison can’t wait to give him the same satisfaction he craves!
I came home from Vietnam in 68`was charged for beating an uncle to a pulp for molesting my 11 year old handicapped neice. I learnt from a relative he committed this assault & rape while I was stationed in Nui Dat, Vietnam where the (Ausralian/New Zealand) military contingent were based.
This still infuriates me to the core regardless I became an athiest stuff the judiciary, all denominated churches, the damn public for derogatory blasphemy remarks made toward me a veteran.. Apparently I felt as though I had shot the wrong people - it should have been those already living in Peace..
Unfortunately the barstard died - I had not finished with the prick!
No one could say whether the mother; ever knew, what the hell was going on between the arsehole husband & her daughter during all- those-years of his abuse?? Surely, and without any bloody doubt whatsoever SHE had to have known the rat-bag,was raping her little daughter..! but for her own safety of course, she may have been more afraid of his actions should she notify authority to be more than life threatening for her own sake... regardless No mother “TURNS A FUCKIN BLIND EYE” while a child is being abused - unless she is blind!

this girl has been through enough, so has her family

Instead of judging and criticizing, we should be praying for these people. She has been through enough. It’s terrible how everyone is picking this poor girl apart. She deserves a chance at happiness. DNA carries alot of information. We do NOT want rapists of little girls breeding. Period. They want their seed spread. That’s why they choose victims who can’t fight them off. I girl should be allowed to be a woman first before deciding who she wants to have children with. It should not be forced on anyone. Jesus taight compassion and forgiveness. Not judgement and ridicule. Open your hearts and shut your mouths. Please ask God to bless this girl and her family, to surround them with healing love and light. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen!
