Oz minister brands Scientologists 'bastards'
Asia Pacific News.Net Thursday 10th July, 2008 (ANI)
Melbourne, July 10 : The Education and Children's Services Minister in South Australia has attacked the controversial Church of Scientology, branding its faithful as 'bastard'.
Jane Lomax-Smith made the comment earlier this year while talking to a group of protesters outside the church's offices in Adelaide.
Unfortunately for her, the comments were caught on tape, with the video finding its way to YouTube, reports The Australian.
"They should be taxed - the bastards," she's seen as telling the protesters from an internet collective called Anonymous.
"They shouldn't be tax-free, we're subsidising them."
Ms Lomax-Smith has since described her comments as personal views made in a private conversation.
Some of the church's most well-known believers include Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Jenna Elfman.
Cruise is also said to have introduced Australia's richest man James Packer to the religion.

I would not have posted a private conversation like this online without the knowledge of the other person. But what she said was not really a wrong thing to say, although if she was speaking publicly she might have stated her opinion more diplomatically.

She has a right to express her private opinions in casual conversation. I respect her for standing by her statements seeing that she has done nothing wrong. She was expressing her views which is not a crime.

She's right!
She’s right, and much of the public knows it. Everyone who has dealt with them at their stress test cart or at other times when they are selling their book know that all they seem to be able to say about their “religion” is that its great and you should buy the book and read it.
not one detail otherwise except “well I communicate better now” and “helps me run my business” which is about as vague as “its great”

I commend Ms Lomax-Smith for her comments, and Mr Rann for standing by her rights to express her opinion. What upsets the Scientologists is not that she is “promoting intolerance” (which is ridiculous) - it is that what she says is TRUE, and they are desperately afraid of the wider community coming to realise this.

YES!!
How long until the American press gets on board?? Good for her and for Mr. Rann. I can only echo Mandee’s comment: What she said is the TRUTH, and the world community is only just NOW starting to wake up! The sooner this cult is stripped of its title as a “religion," the sooner the vicious practices of child abuse, the destruction of families, the murders, extortion, and slavery will end. It’s gone on under the noses of the free world for far too long. It MUST. STOP.

I don't understand this.
How can an organisation that clearly charges remarkable amounts for its services be awarded a tax-free status?
I have also been troubled for some time about the Scientology symbol of the double-cross; it’s depiction of the Christian crucifix with an “X” through it, is an abomination of which I have never received an adequate explanation.
Can anyone enlighten me?

The 8 arms of the cross represent the 8 dynamics. It is obviously similar to the latin cross, but it seems to come from the satanic cult OTO - Alister Crowley’s - which Hubbard was an active member of for a while.

Go!!
I totally support Jane Lomax-Smith in her views. She has it correct!

Full support
Scientology is a money making scam that takes advantage of its religious status and gives no aid without payment
Just google “operation freakout” or the “disconnect policy” or “Lisa McPherson"

Roger Henderson 07-14-08, 09:45 AM |
James Packer had severed ties to the “Church” of Scientology as have many high profile members for various reasons.
Mrs Lomax is quite correct in her statement. The would be church is nothing more than a business masquerading as religion in order to gain tax exemption.

She is correct
Scientology exists solely to make money.
It is an insidious cult.
